Top Attractions For PORT CAMPBELL
Port Campbell National Park
- Provides breathtaking coastal views, rugged cliff formations and a fascinating shipwreck trail. Visit the following attractions in the area:
Lord Ard Gorge
- Visitors can reach the area by climbing down the cliff steps. Watch out for the nearby landforms including the Blowhole, Elephant Rock and Mutton Bird Island.
London Bridge
- Once an amazing double arch rock formation formed by wind and wave action. However, in 1990, one of the arches plunged into the sea. The Arch – Formed due to sea action over many, many years.
The Grotto
- Named due to the constant wind and wave action.
Twelve Apostles
- View these amazing rock formations that exist as a result of wind and wave action. Interpretive information and viewing platforms will enhance your visit to this part of the magnificent coastline.
Trading Company
- Displays of Australian art and craft such as pottery, woodwork, paintings and jewellery.
Glenample Historic Homestead
- Built in 1869 by pioneer – Hugh Gibson, this house now contains displays about the Loch Ard story and early history of the area.

- There are picnic areas in Port Campbell opposite the hotel, beside the Gellibrand River at Princetown and at the Glenample Homestead.

Walking
- There are three self guided walks around the Lord Ard Gorge Area:
The Wreck of the Lord Ard
- This walk tells the tragic story of the Loch Ard shipwreck from the wreck site to the cemetery.
Living on the Edge
- Discover life on the edge of the sheer cliffs.
Beach Walk
- A fine walk along Newfield Bay, Gibson’s Beach and the Gellibrand estuary.
Swimming
- The bay at Port Campbell is a safe area for swimming.
Diving
- When the sea is calm, there is excellent wreck and reef diving off the Port Campbell National Park.
Fishing
- Popular spots include Curdies Inlet, Gellibrand River, Newfield Bay and the Port Campbell Jetty.
Canoeing
- The Gellibrand River is ideal for canoeing with access from the picnic ground at Princetown.
Birdwatching
- The heathlands and low coastal scrub are particularly good for birdwatching as is Muttonbird Island with its resident muttonbirds and short-tailed shearwaters.
